Pacsafe – why we are not traveling without!
Yes? Great, read on as well and know why Pacsafe changed our (travel) live and how anti theft travel bags will will change yours as well!
Safety is one of our biggest concerns when traveling. While we are obviously doing our very best to return save and sound, I am not talking about our personal well-being. I am talking about the safety of our precious things. No, not the kids (haha). I found it always challenging on trips to find a save place for passports, documents, money, credit cards, cameras, phones, laptops and other items that we only very reluctantly would like to see gone. And you simply can’t carry everything with you at all times – and I doubt that even this would be a save bet anyway.
Let’s talk about the Pacsafe anti theft bag!
Discovering that something like a portable travel save exists had an effect like a sedative on me. It took a whole bunch of worries off my shoulder: Is the hostel save? Will someone steal our passports? And how much of a pain it would be to have them replaced? Where do I store important things? Comes the Hotel with a safe? And as a follow up: is it a good one? Is the cleaning staff trustworthy? … probably you know this mind game.
What’s an anti theft travel bag and when do I need it?
A Pacsafe is a slash proof bag that comes with a lock wire to attach it to a fix element. The most obvious usage is to secure your electronics, money and important documents in your hotel or hostel room while being off exploring your destination. It’s a big stress relieve to know your valuables safe!
If you are traveling alone, a travel safe should be traveling with you on all your journeys. Know your valuables save when going for a swim or when taking a nap on an airport – simply attach the pacsafe to a tree, chair, radiator or whatever fix element is around and know you can lean back and relax without worrying that you’re things are gone when you wake up.
The pacsafe comes in 2 sizes: 5l and 12l. We purchased the 12l version as we need space for our MacBooks, but also our phones, a tablet and our documents easily fit in. What surprised me most was the weight of the pacsafe travelsave.I actually expected it to be kinda heavy knowing it’s slash proof wired canvas with a stainless steel wire and a 3 digit lock, but it is really surprisingly light.

Are pacsafes bags a 100% protection against theft?
Nope. If someone REALLY wants to professionally rob you and breaks into your room with the intend to steal your stuff, they will be most likely equipped to do so. Something like 100% safety does not exist. Travel safe bags however are lowering the risk of being a victim of an opportunistic thief. Someone who casually would grab a phone left in a hotel room, or a credit card that is found while changing the sheets. Pacsafes are roadblocks! Thieves work fast and favour the quick deal. They simply don’t have time to deal with complication as cut proof material or steel wires. Most thefts are prevented by just not being an easy target.
